Titans top Terriers, 66-55

HIRAM, Ohio-- Westminster turned in a strong second half Wednesday night inside Price Gymnasium, erasing a one-point halftime deficit to earn a 66-55 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory at Hiram.

Westminster upped its overall record to 14-8 while improving to 9-4 in the league with Wednesday's win. The Titans hold a two-game lead for the PAC North Division's top seed with three games remaining.

Senior Trey DePietro (Boardman, Ohio, Boardman) led four in double figures, totaling 16 points and nine rebounds. Graduate student DJ Harrell (Cleveland, Ohio, East Technical) finished with 15 points and six rebounds, marking his 13th-straight game scoring 15 or more points. His 19.4 points per game average ranks No. 2 in the conference. Freshman Nick Ryan (Warren, Ohio, John F. Kennedy) added 13 points and five boards while senior Drew Weir (Salem, Ohio, Salem) chipped in with 11 points, nine rebounds and three assists.

Jack Agema scored 13 points for Hiram (5-17, 1-12 PAC).

Down by as many as eight in the first, Westminster used an 8-0 run, capped by a Ryan three-pointer, to tie the game at 30-all with just over one minute left in the half. Sophomore Trevor Siefke's (Lisbon, Ohio, David Anderson) layup with 13 seconds remaining closed out the first half scoring with the Titans down one, 33-32, heading into the break. DePietro had nine first half points.

The Titans ripped off the first six points of the second half to go up five, 38-33, on a pair of DePietro free throws, and did not cede their lead over the final 19-plus minutes. Harrell finished with nine points in the second.

Westminster outrebounded Hiram 44-31 and outscored the Terriers in the paint 34-24. It was the Titans' fifth game of the year finishing with a double-digit rebounding margin.
