Rambo, Puhala nab weekly PAC honors

TRAFFORD, Pa.--Westminster senior Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) and freshman Zoe Puhala (Brockway, Pa., Brockway) were selected as Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Indoor Track and Field weekly award winners Tuesday. 

Rambo was named the Field Athlete of the Week, while Puhala was named Newcomer of the Week. It was Rambo's first career weekly honor during the indoor season. She has earned three career weekly citations during the outdoor season. Puhala was also recognized as the newcomer of the week Jan. 20. 

Rambo won the shot put at Susquehanna's River Hawk Friday Night Showdown, topping the 41-competitor field with a mark of 12.29 meters (40-04.00) on her fifth throw. She also registered a fourth-place finish in the weight throw (13.26m, 43-06).

Puhala was the runner-up in the 800 with a time of 2:27.72 (converted) at Susquehanna. She also ran the second leg of the Titans' 4x400-meter 'A' relay, which finished in second place with a time of 4:28.02. Her time in the 800 currently ranks eighth in the PAC, while Westminster's 4x400 time is fifth.

Up next:
Westminster is scheduled to compete at the Youngstown State Last Chance, presented by Southwoods Health, on Friday. Events inside the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS) will get underway at 3 p.m.
