Curtis 16th to open season at Fisher Invitational

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.-Senior Monica Curtis (Harborcreek, Pa., Harbor Creek) finished 16th at Westminster's annual Fisher Invitational Friday evening.

Franciscan topped the eight-team field with 29 points. Saint Vincent was second with 49 points and Robert Morris was third with 59 points. Westminster was eighth, totaling 207 points. Saint Vincent's Grace Neubert won the five-kilometer event with a time of 18 minutes, 11.70 seconds. Franciscan's Mary Worden was second (19:06.40).

Curtis registered a time of 20:36.40 Friday, over 41 seconds better than her time on the New Wilmington course a year ago (21:17.64).

Freshman Callie Reaugh (Blairsville, Pa., River Valley) was 61st with a time of 22:51.80 while classmate Abigail Perrine (Grove City, Pa., Grove City) finished 66th with a time of 23:08.40. Junior Madison Mamula (New Brighton, Pa., New Brighton) was 87th (25:22.60) and freshman Faith Giannamore (Albion, Pa., Northwestern) was 100th (20:23.00).

Westminster will participate in the Penn State Behrend Invitational on Friday, Sept. 12.
