Francisco, Sukal, Overlingas named Academic All-District®

GREENWOOD, Ind.--The Westminster College women's tennis program recently had three players earn College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® honors. 

Recent graduates Gia Francisco (Canfield, Ohio, Canfield) and Emma Sukal (Pittsburgh, Pa., Baldwin) and rising junior Emma Overlingas (Pittsburgh, Pa., Baldwin) were all recognized. 

This is the third time Francisco has been recognized while this is Sukal's second recognition and Overlingas's first. 

Francisco graduated magna cum laude on May 10 with degrees in marketing and professional sales, sports management and business administration and posted a 3.89 cumulative grade-point average (GPA). She was a seven-time Dean's List honoree and has been named to the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Academic Honor Roll three times. Francisco concluded her career with an overall singles record of 31-20 (14-11 PAC) and a doubles record of 35-20 (17-9 PAC). Last fall, Gia was named First Team All-PAC at No. 1 doubles and Second Team All-PAC at No. 1 singles. She was named First Team All-PAC at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles last season, Second Team All-PAC at No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles in 2022 and was First Team All-PAC at No. 1 doubles and Second Team All-PAC at No. 3 singles in 2021. 

Sukal graduated summa cum laude on May 10 with a degree in individual interdisciplinary and posted a 3.97 cumulative GPA. She is a seven-time Dean's List honoree and has been named to the PAC Academic Honor Roll three times. Sukal concluded her career with an overall singles record of 21-16 (12-7 PAC) and a doubles record of 26-13 (13-6 PAC). Last fall, Sukal was named First Team All-PAC at No. 1 doubles and Honorable Mention All-PAC at No. 2 singles. She missed the 2023 season due to injury. She was named First Team All-PAC at No. 2 singles and Second Team All-PAC at No. 1 doubles in 2022 and was First Team All-PAC at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles in 2021. 

Overlingas, an early childhood/special education major, carries a 3.87 cumulative GPA. She has been named to the College's Dean's List three times and to the PAC Academic Honor Roll in the fall of 2023. Overlingas finished the season with a 10-2 overall record and a 7-1 conference record at No. 3 (2-0), No. 4 (5-2) and No. 5 (3-0) and she has a doubles record of 8-3 overall and 5-3 in the PAC at No. 2 (5-3) and No. 3 (3-0). She was named Honorable Mention All-PAC at No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles this season. She earned Second Team All-PAC honors in 2023 at No. 5 singles. 

Westminster concluded the year in the PAC Championship Tournament semifinal and finished with an 8-4 overall record and a 5-3 conference record.
