Rambo registers two top-10 finishes at Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.--Junior Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) posted a pair of top-10 finishes for the Westminster College women's outdoor track and field program Saturday at the Dave Labor Invitational, hosted by Slippery Rock University, on Saturday. 

Rambo was fourth in the championship bracket of the discus with a top throw of 40.34 meters (132-04) and 10th in the championship bracket of the shot put with a best throw of 12.10 meters (39-08.50).

Graduate student Breannda Davis (Streetsboro, Ohio, Streetsboro) finished in fifth place in the 100-meter hurdles with season-best time of 15.51 seconds and was sixth in the high jump with a top mark of 1.60 meters (5-03). Graduate student Madison Conley (New Castle, Pa., New Castle) was fifth in the pole vault, clearing 3.70 meters (12-01.75). 

Senior Lexi Shiderly (New Castle, Pa., Mohawk) finished eighth in the championship bracket of the shot put with a top throw of 12.64 meters (41-05.75). It is currently the top throw in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) this spring. Junior Monica Curtis (Harborcreek, Pa., Harbor Creek) was ninth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best time of 12:16.27 while freshman Lauren Burks (Pittsburgh, Pa., North Allegheny) finished ninth in the discus with a top throw of 28.29 meters (92-10). Senior Kaya Skinner (Oil City, Pa., Oil City) placed 16th in the triple jump with a season-best mark of 9.95 meters (32-07.75). 

In the open shot put competition, sophomore Molly Gibson (Leetonia, Ohio, Leetonia) was third with a personal-best throw of 10.35 meters (33-11.50). Burks was fourth (10.23m 33-06.75) and sophomore Milayna Leasure (Home, Pa., Marion Center) was seventh (9.98m, 32-09). 

Westminster's 4x100-meter "A" relay finished eighth with a time of 51.22. Relay members included Davis, junior Ryann Essey (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell), freshman Emma Morris (Struthers, Ohio, Struthers) and sophomore Jenna Zendron (West Sunbury, Pa., Moniteau). 

Up Next:
The Westminster Invitational is scheduled for next Friday and Saturday, April 11-12.  The hammer will be contested at Slippery Rock Friday, beginning at 1:30 p.m. The remaining events will be held Saturday at Harold Burry Stadium in New Wilmington, beginning at 9:45 a.m.
