Hankerson posts third-place finish in 100 at Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.--Freshman Aaron Hankerson (Reidsville, Ga., Robert Toombs Christian Academy) ran to a third-place finish in the 100 meters to headline the Westminster College men's outdoor track and field program's performances Saturday at the Dave Labor Invitational, hosted by Slippery Rock University. 

Hankerson's time of 10.63 seconds in the finals of the 100 came after registering a personal-best time of 10.59 in the preliminaries. It sits as the top time in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC). 

Freshman Reed Yost (Wattsburg, Pa., Seneca) cleared a personal-best 4.35 meters (14-03.25) to finished tied for ninth place in the pole vault. Junior Gino Piraino (Export, Pa., Franklin Regional) posted a personal-best time of 1:01.02 in the 400-meter hurdles to finish in 13th place while freshman Rylan Dye (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) tied for 13th in the high jump with a best mark of 1.80 meters (5-10.75)  

Sophomore Isaiah Dale (Claysville, Pa., McGuffey) was 17th in the 400 hurdles (1:02.03) while sophomore Dennis Jones (West Middlesex, Pa., West Middlesex) posted a personal-best time of 1:02.90 in the 400 hurdles to finish 18th and ran a season-best time of 1:59.93 in the 800 meters to finish 25th. Freshman Tyrek Kelley (Medina, Ohio, Medina) was 18th in the triple jump (11.63m, 38-01.75). 

Sophomore Jack Crider (Apollo, Pa., Kiski) scored a 19th-place finish in the championship bracket of the shot put with a top mark of 13.08 meters (42-11) and a 22nd-place finish in the championship bracket of the discus with a best throw of 39.78 meters (13-06). 

Sophomore Kyle Crown (Lake Milton, Ohio, McDonald) finished ninth in the open discus competition with a top throw of 36.60 meters (120-01) while senior Jacob Forrest (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) and junior Bryce Carroll (Sharon, Pa., Sharon) were ninth and 15th, respectively, in the open shot put competition, with Forrest registering a top throw of 11.78 meters (38-07.75) and Carroll posting a top mark of 11.32 meters (37-01.25). 

Westminster's 4x100-meter "A" relay finished second with a season-best time of 42.57. Members of the relay included Hankerson, Dale, junior Ben White (Warren, Pa., Warren) and sophomore Jake Mull (Apollo, Pa., Apollo-Ridge)

Up Next:
The Westminster Invitational is scheduled for next Friday and Saturday, April 11-12.  The hammer will be contested at Slippery Rock Friday, beginning at 1:30 p.m. The remaining events will be held Saturday at Harold Burry Stadium in New Wilmington, beginning at 9:45 a.m.
