Hankerson records pair of top five finishes at SRU

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.--Freshman Aaron Hankerson (Reidsville, Ga., Robert Toombs Christian Academy) registered a pair of top-five finishes Thursday afternoon at Slippery Rock University's John Papa Invitational. 

Hankerson finished as the runner-up in the 100 meters with a personal-best time of 10.58 seconds. He was also fourth in the 200 meters with a personal-best time of 21.88. 

Freshman Reed Yost (Wattsburg, Pa., Seneca) finished in fourth place in the pole vault, clearing a personal-best 4.63 meters (15-02.25). Sophomore Jack Crider (Apollo, Pa., Kiski) was fourth in the discus with a personal-best throw of 42.21 meters (138-06) and finished 15th in the shot put with a season-best mark of 13.73 meters (45-00.25). Classmate Kyle Crown (Lake Milton, Ohio, McDonald) finished 10th in the discus (36.11m, 118-06) and 20th in the shot put (13.15m, 43-01.75). 

Sophomore Jake Mull (Apollo, Pa., Apollo-Ridge) finished fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.05 while freshman Rylan Dye (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) tied for fifth place in the high jump, clearing a season-best 1.95 meters (6-04.75). Junior Gino Piraino (Export, Pa., Franklin Regional) and sophomore Dennis Jones (West Middlesex, Pa., West Middlesex) were 10th and 12th, respectively, in the 400-meter hurdles. Piraino posted a personal-best time of 1:00.08 while Jones finished with a personal-best time of 1:00.73. Sophomore Isaiah Dale (Claysville, Pa., McGuffey) was 11th in the 110 hurdles with a time of 17.36.

Westminster will compete at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships Thursday-Friday, May 1-2 in Morgantown, W.Va.
