Rambo a double-winner at Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa.--A limited number of members from Westminster College's women's outdoor track and field program participated in the Grove City College Mini-Invitational Wednesday at Robert E. Thorn Field. 

Junior Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) won a pair of events, posting a top throw of 12.00 meters (39-04.50) to win the shot put and registering a best throw of 41.19 meters (135-02) to win the discus. 

Graduate student Breannda Davis (Streetsboro, Ohio, Streetsboro) won the high jump with a mark of 1.63 meters (5-4.25) while junior Ryann Essey (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) was second after clearing a season-best 1.53 meters (5-0.25).

Junior Monica Curtis (Harborcreek, Pa., Harbor Creek) finished second in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:08.37 and sophomore Molly Gibson (Leetonia, Ohio, Leetonia) was second in the discus with a top throw of 34.80 meters (114-02). 

Westminster had four representatives finish in the top eight of the shot put. Freshman Brooke Gecina (Aurora, Ohio, Aurora) was third with a top throw of 11.09 meters (36-04.75), junior Rachel Brady (Columbus, Pa., Corry) was seventh with a top throw of 10.32 meters (33-10.25) and sophomore Milayna Leasure (Home, Pa., Marion Center) was eighth with a top throw of 9.96 meters (32-08.25). 

Sophomore Lily Atwood (Kittanning, Pa., Armstrong) was fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:06.46 while Brady was fifth in the javelin with a top mark of 31.89 meters (104-07). 

Up Next:
Westminster will participate in the John Papa Invitational, hosted by Slippery Rock University, Thursday. Events are scheduled to get underway at noon.
