Conley wins pole vault at Carnegie Mellon

Owns current No. 2 mark in Division III

PITTSBURGH--Westminster College graduate student Madison Conley (New Castle, Pa., New Castle) highlighted the Westminster College women's outdoor track and field program's performances at this weekend's Carnegie Mellon University Invitational with a win in the pole vault. 

Conley, who won the 19-competitor event Friday night by clearing a personal-best 3.86 meters (12-08), also set a new Gesling Stadium record. It is the No. 2 mark in Division III this spring. 

Graduate student Breannda Davis (Streetsboro, Ohio, Streetsboro) finished third in the high jump, clearing 1.63 meters (5-04.25), and finished seventh in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.00 seconds. Her effort in the high jump is tied for seventh-best in Division III. 

Junior Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) was fourth in the discus with a top throw of 42.71 meters (140-01). It stands as the No. 9 throw in Division III. She also finished 15th in the javelin (29.43m, 96-06). Friday, Rambo was 11th in the shot put with a best throw of 11.93 meters (39-01.75). It is tied for 16th-best in Division III. 

Sophomore Jenna Zendron (West Sunbury, Pa., Moniteau) finished fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 59.62. Sophomore Molly Gibson (Leetonia, Ohio, Leetonia) was 10th in the discus with a personal-best mark of 34.47 meters (113-01) while junior Monica Curtis (Harborcreek, Pa., Harbor Creek) posted an 11th-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase Friday with a personal-best time of 12:20.13. 

Freshman Brooke Gecina (Aurora, Ohio, Aurora) finished 13th in the hammer throw Friday with a personal-best mark of 38.88 meters (127-06). Also on Friday, senior Lexi Shiderly (New Castle, Pa., Mohawk) was 13th in the shot put with a top mark of 11.73 meters (38-06.00) while freshman Lauren Burks (Pittsburgh, Pa., North Allegheny) was 18th with a personal-best mark of 10.82 meters (35-06). 

Junior Ryann Essey (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) finished 15th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:12.46 while junior Rachel Brady (Columbus, Pa., Corry) was 17th in the discus with a best mark of 31.89 meters (104-07). 

Up Next:
Westminster will participate in the two-day Dave Labor Alumni Invitational, hosted by Slippery Rock University, next Friday and Saturday, April 4-5. Events are scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.
