Crown finishes fifth in shot put in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.--Sophomore Kyle Crown (Lake Milton, Ohio, McDonald) posted a fifth-place finish in the shot put Saturday to lead the Westminster College men's outdoor track and field program at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge this weekend.

The two-day event was held inside Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.

Crown registered a top throw of 14.50 meters (47-07) on his second throw Saturday.

Freshman Rylan Dye (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) scored a 12th-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.85 meters (6-00.75) on his first attempt at the height. Sophomore Dennis Jones (West Middlesex, Pa., West Middlesex) was 20th in the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 00.77 seconds while junior Gino Piraino (Export, Pa., Franklin Regional) finished 26th in the 400-meters with a personal-best time of 1:01.85.

Westminster is scheduled to split its squad on Friday-Saturday, March 28-29 to compete at West Liberty University's Tim Weaver Invitational and the Carnegie Mellon University Invitational.
