Rock 3rd in pole vault to open season at Youngstown State

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio--The Westminster College women's indoor track and field team traveled to the 14th Annual Youngstown State Icebreaker, presented by Southwoods Health, on Friday. 

The unscored, season-opening event was held inside the Watson & Tressel (WATTS) Center.

Highlighting Westminster's top performances was freshman Aubrey Rock (Butler, Pa., Butler), who scored a third-place finish in the seeded pole vault competition. She cleared 3.90 meters (12-09.50), which ranks No. 3 on the indoor program's all-time performance list. 

Senior Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) posted a fourth-place finish in the shot put (12.53m, 41-01.50) and was 17th in the weight throw (12.91m, 42-04.25).

Senior Monica Curtis (Harborcreek, Pa., Harbor Creek) finished 19th in the mile (5:43.12). Sophomore Alexis Lefoer (Canfield, Ohio, Canfield) was 23rd in the 800 (2:37.57) while freshman Gabby Armlin (Middleburg, N.Y., Middleburg Central) finished 25th (2:43.37). 

Freshman Meghan Vadas (Youngstown, Ohio, Austintown Fitch) was 14th (11.19m, 36-08.50) in the shot put. Junior Molly Gibson (Leetonia, Ohio, Leetonia) finished 30th (10.41m, 34-02.00) while freshman Jessica Barger (Blairsville, Pa., River Valley) was 38th (9.55m, 31-04.00). Freshmen Callie Reaugh (Blairsville, Pa., River Valley) and Abigail Perrine (Grove City, Pa., Grove City) were 31st and 34th, respectively, in the 3000. Reaugh posted a time of 12:37.87 while Perrine's time was 13:25.27. Senior Alexa Young (Pittsburgh, Pa., Mount Lebanon) finished 52nd in the long jump (3.72m, 12-02.50).

The Titans' 4x400 relay finished in 19th place with a time of 4:35.60. Relay members were freshmen Natalie Weiland (Mars, Pa., North Catholic)Lizzie McClish (Rural Valley, Pa., West Shamokin) and Armlin and senior Ryann Essey (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell).

Up next:
Westminster returns to action on Friday, Jan. 16 at Akron's Seventh Annual Al Campbell Invitational. Field events are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. with track events getting underway at 4:30 p.m.
