Cannon named PAC Offensive Player of the Week

TRAFFORD, Pa.--Westminster College sophomore Brite Cannon (Parkland, Fla., Monarch) was named Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Offensive Player of the Week Monday afternoon.

This is Cannon's third career PAC weekly award. He was selected as the league's special team's player of the week Sept. 22. Cannon was recognized as the PAC Newcomer of the Week on Oct. 14, 2024. 

Cannon caught six passes for 113 yards and three scores in Saturday's 57-14 win at Saint Vincent. It was his second three-touchdown game of the season: he had three in a win over Thiel on Oct. 18. Saturday was also his fifth game of the season with 100 or more receiving yards. Cannon scored on a 65-yard pass from freshman quarterback Quentin Goode (Aliquippa, Pa., Aliquippa) with just over eight minutes left in the first half to push Westminster's lead to 27-0. It was his fifth receiving touchdown to go for 50 or more yards this season.

Cannon has 42 catches for 848 yards and 10 touchdowns this year. His 20.2 yards per reception average ranks No. 19 in Division III.

On Sunday evening, Westminster was announced as the PAC representative invited to participate in the Extra Points Bowl in Canton, Ohio as part of the 2nd Annual Opendorse Bowl Series. The two-game Opendorse Bowl Series takes will take place Saturday at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium and will once again bring together teams from the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC), the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC), the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) and the PAC. At 1 p.m. in the ForeverLawn Bowl, Ohio Northern from the OAC will match up with Wabash from the NCAC, the predetermined home team. The Extra Points Bowl, featuring Westminster for the second-straight year, and Mount St. Joseph, the HCAC representative, is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. As the PAC's representative, Westminster is the predetermined home team.
