Women's swimming and diving wins at home

McClain, Nappo each win three events

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College women's swimming and diving team topped Hiram 198-27 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) dual meet Saturday afternoon. 

Westminster's record improved to 3-2 overall and 3-1 in the PAC. Hiram fell to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in the PAC. 

Westminster's 'A' and 'B' teams finished first and second in the 200 medley relay, respectively, to start the meet. The 'A' relay won with a time of 2 minutes, 05.17 seconds. The 'B' relay posted a time of 2:19.25. Members of the 'A' relay included freshmen Olivia Schrock (Greensburg, Pa., Hempfield), Rachel Rospierski (Erie, Pa., Fairview), Nina Nappo (Columbiana, Ohio, Columbiana) and Brianna Reinhart (Pittsburgh, Pa., North Allegheny). Members of the 'B' relay team included sophomores Daphne Gindlesperger (McKean, Pa., General McLane), Avery O'Sullivan (Washington, Pa., Trinity) and Isabella Summers (Hubbard, Ohio, Hubbard) and Emily Yurko (Boardman, Ohio, Boardman)

Junior Maddy McClain (Elizabeth, Pa., Elizabeth Forward) and Nappo each won three events Saturday. McClain won the 1650 (19:13.03), 100 free (59.59) and 100 fly (1:08.01) while Nappo won the 200 free (2:10.22), 500 (5:52.75) and 200 IM (2:28.29). Reinhart won the 100 breast (1:19.87) and 50 free (27.65) and freshman Madison Alessio (Elizabeth, Pa., Elizabeth Forward) won the 100 back (1:11.57), finished second in the 50 free (28.12) and third in the 100 free (1:04.59).

Summers won the 200 fly (2:47.78) and finished second in the 500 (6:09.11). Freshman Sarah Vitale (Allison Park, Pa., Shaler) won the 200 breast (3:02.31), finished second in the 1650 (21:07.12) and third in the 100 fly (1:21.28). Schrock won the 200 back (2:25.18) and finished second in the 200 free (2:18.69).

Freshman Sophia Greene (Cabot, Pa., Knoch) was second in the 100 back (1:14.98) and 200 fly (3:06.23). O'Sullivan was second in the 200 breast (3:09.05) and 200 IM (2:43.37) and third in the 500 (6:27.55). Freshman Emma Greene (Darlington, Pa., Blackhawk) finished second in the 100 free (1:03.66) and third in the 100 back (1:16.44), 50 free (29.74) and 200 IM (2:43.69). Rospierski finished third in the 200 free (2:20.55).

Westminster's 'A' and 'B' teams finished first and second in the 400 free relay, respectively, to conclude the meet. The 'A' team won with a time of 4:06.34 while the 'B' team finished in 4:33.16. Members of the 'A' relay included McClain, Gindlesperger, Alessio and Reinhart. Members of the 'B' relay team included Summers, Greene, Vitale and Greene.

Westminster hosts Wooster Saturday. The non-conference meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
