McClain wins three events against Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa.--Westminster College junior Maddy McClain (Elizabeth, Pa., Elizabeth Forward) won three events Saturday in a 134-127 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) dual meet loss to Allegheny inside Mellon Pool.

Westminster's record fell to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the league. Allegheny improved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the PAC.

Westminster opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay, finishing with a time of 2 minutes, 01.94 seconds. Members of the relay included freshmen Olivia Schrock (Greensburg, Pa., Hempfield) and Brianna Reinhart (Pittsburgh, Pa., North Allegheny) along with junior Annabelle Turner (Butler, Pa., Butler) and sophomore Daphne Gindlesperger (McKean, Pa., General McLane)

McClain won the 1000 (11:21.13), the 500 (5:32.87) and the 200 IM (2:22.01). Freshman Rachel Rospierski (Erie, Pa., Fairview) won the 100 back (1:00.50), was second in the 50 free (26.84) and third in the 100 free (1:00.17). Reinhart won the 200 free (2:10.00) while Schrock won the 200 back (2:24.51).

Freshman Nina Nappo (Columbiana, Ohio, Columbiana) finished second in the 200 fly (2:29.24) and the 100 free (59.63) and was third in the 100 fly (1:07.42). Freshman Madison Alessio (Charleroi, Pa., Elizabeth Forward) was third in the 100 back (1:07.14), Gindlesperger was third in the 200 back (3:38.76) and sophomore Avery O'Sullivan (Washington, Pa., Trinity) was third in the 100 breast (1:30.58). Turner finished in third place in the 200 fly (2:36.88) and freshman Sarah Vitale (Allison Park, Pa., Shaler) finished third in the 200 breast (3:05.20).

Westminster concluded the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 free relay. Westminster's 'A' relay finished second (1:47.12). Members of the 'A' relay were Reinhart, McClain, Nappo and Rospierski. 

Up Next:
Westminster will host Chatham next Friday. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
