Westminster cruises in dual meet win at W&J

WASHINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College women's swimming and diving team combined to win eight individual events and a pair of relays Saturday in a 181-82 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) dual meet victory at Washington & Jefferson. 

Freshmen Nina Nappo (Columbiana, Ohio, Columbiana) and Rachel Rospierski (Erie, Pa., Fairview) won two events each. Nappo won the 1000 with a time of 12 minutes, 10:55 seconds and the 400 IM with a time of 5:14.01. She was second in the 50 free (27.57). Rospierski won the 100 back with a time of 1:05.43 and the 50 free with a time of 27.03. She finished second in the 200 back (2:27.89). 

Junior Maddy McClain (Elizabeth, Pa., Elizabeth Forward) won the 100 fly with a time of 1:05.48 and finished second in the 200 free (2:05.28) and 500 (5:34.09). Freshman Olivia Schrock (Greensburg, Pa., Hempfield) won the 200 back (1:26.04), was second in the 100 back (1:10.79) and third in the 100 fly (1:15.91). Junior Annabelle Turner (Butler, Pa., Butler) won the 200 fly (2:37.11) and finished second in the 100 free (1:06.71). Freshman Brianna Reinhart (Pittsburgh, Pa., North Allegheny) won the 100 free (1:00.40) and finished third in the 200 free (2:10.13). 

Freshman Sarah Vitale (Allison Park, Pa., Shaler) was second in the 1000 (12:31.40) and 200 breast (3:08.72) and third in the 500 (6:13.97). Freshman Madison Alessio (Charleroi, Pa., Elizabeth Forward) was second in the 100 breast (1:25.21) and third in the 50 free (28.29) and 200 breast (3:08.84). Sophomore Avery O'Sullivan (Washington, Pa., Trinity) had third-place finishes in the 100 back (1:13.93), 200 back (2:38.71) and 400 IM (5:41.51). Freshman Emma Greene (Darlington, Pa., Blackhawk) posted third-place finishes in the 100 breast (1:28.03) and 100 free (1:07.97). 

Westminster opened the dual meet with a win the 200 medley relay, registering a winning time of 2:06.66. Members of the 'A' relay were Rospierski, Reinhart, Turner and sophomore Daphne Gindlesperger (McKean, Pa., General McLane). The Titans closed the meet with a win in the 400 free relay, finishing with a time of 4:08.23. The 'A' relay members included McClain, Gindlesperger, Nappo and Reinhart. 

Up next:
Westminster continues its PAC schedule next Saturday at Allegheny. Events are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. inside the Mellon Pool.
