Davis fifth in pentathlon Friday at YSU

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio--Graduate student Breannda Davis (Streetsboro, Ohio, Streetsboro) headlined the Westminster College women's indoor track and field program's performances Friday at the Youngstown State University Mid-Major Invitational, presented by Southwoods Health. 

Davis registered a fifth-place finish with 3,209 points in Friday's pentathlon. She placed third in the high jump with a season-best mark of 1.62 meters (5-03.75), was fourth in the long jump after ripping off a career-best mark of 5.40 meters (17-08.75), ninth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.68 seconds, ninth in the shot put with a top throw of 9.10 meters (29-10.25) and10th in the 800 with a time of 2:43.36. Davis' mark in the long jump surpassed Selena Thomas' indoor record of 5.23 meters (17-02), which she set at the PAC Championships on Feb. 21, 2019.

Graduate student Madison Conley (New Castle, Pa., New Castle) and junior Missy Treharne (Burton, Ohio, Beaumont School) were seventh and eighth, respectively, in the seeded pole vault competition after both posted season-best marks. Conley cleared 3.60 meters (11-09.75) and Treharne cleared 3.45 meters (11-03.75).

Junior Ryann Essey (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) was 14th in the pentathlon with a career-best 2,677 points. She finished ninth in the 800 with a personal-best time of 2:42.04, 11th in the 60 hurdles with a personal-best time of 9.80, tied for 12th in the high jump, clearing a personal-best height of 1.44 meters (4-08.75), was 17th in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 7.87 meters (25-10.00) and 19th in the long jump (4.51m, 14-09.75).

Junior Rachel Brady (Columbus, Pa., Corry) and freshman Brooke Gecina (Aurora, Ohio, Aurora) finished 14th and 15th, respectively, in the open weight throw competition. Brady posted a top throw of 11.31 meters (37-01.25) while Gecina had a personal-best throw of 11.22 meters (36-09.75). Junior Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) was 25th (9.93m, 32-07).
