Westminster edges Allegheny

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College women's swimming and diving program earned a 126-121 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) dual meet victory over Allegheny College Saturday afternoon at the Westminster Natatorium. 

Westminster improved to 2-1 in dual meets this year. Allegheny fell to 4-2.

Senior Sara MacMurdo (Pittsburgh, Pa., Carlynton) won three races Saturday: the 50 free with a time of 26.36 seconds, the 100 free (57.85) and the 200 free (2:07.86). Senior Isabella Barnabei (Oakland, N.J., Indian Hills) won the 400 IM (5:13.85) and the 500 (5:51.47) and finished second in the 200 fly (2:37.17). 

Senior Annabelle Turner (Butler, Pa., Butler) won the 200 fly (2:31.33) and finished second in the 100 fly (1:09.21) and the 200 free (2:13.39). Senior Sara Swanson (Avondale, Ariz., Odyssey Institute for Advanced and International Studies (OIAIS)) won the 100 back (1:09.99).

Sophomore Preslie Bodine (Poland, Ohio, Poland Seminary) posted second-place finishes in the 100 breast (1:17.57) and the 200 breast (2:52.87). Senior Amber Krebs (Whitewater, Wis., Whitewater) finished second in the 1650 (20:43.75) and the 400 IM (5:36.83) while freshman Avery O'Sullivan (Washington, Pa., Trinity) was second in the 100 back (1:10.34).

Westminster's "A" relay teams finished second in both the 200 medley (2:06.95) and 200 free (1:50.26) relays. Members of the medley relay included Swanson, Bodine, Turner and freshman Daphne Gindlesperger (McKean, Pa., General McLane). The free relay was made up of Bodine, Gindlesperger, Krebs and MacMurdo. 
Next Saturday Westminster will travel Erie to take on Penn State Behrend. The meet inside the Junker Center Pool is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
