Westminster women drop PAC dual at Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa.--The Westminster College women's swimming and diving team suffered a 189-99 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) dual meet loss to Grove City College Wednesday night at James E. Longnecker Pool.

Grove City pushed its overall dual meet record to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in the PAC. Westminster fell to 3-5 overall and 3-2 in conference dual meets this season.

Freshman Maddy McClain (Elizabeth, Pa., Elizabeth Forward) posted a first-place finish in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11 minutes, 29.98 seconds and was third in the 100 butterfly (1:05.36). Freshman Preslie Bodine (Poland, Ohio, Poland Seminary) registered an individual victory in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 33.06. 

Junior Christina Loewe (Austin, Texas, Veritas Academy) finished second in the 50 butterfly (29.59) and the 100 backstroke (1:05.09) and was third in the 50 backstroke (29.71). Senior Lauren Tanis (Reading, Pa., Fleetwood) was second in the 500 freestyle (5:51.74) and third in the 200 freestyle (2:09.68). Junior Amber Krebs (Whitewater, Wis., Whitewater) and senior Victoria Kattler (Brooklyn Heights, Ohio, Cuyahoga Heights) finished second and third, respectively, in the 200 IM. Krebs posted a time of 2:23.07 while Kattler had a time of 2:38.56. 

Sophomore Alexa Young (Pittsburgh, Pa., Mount Lebanon) was second on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. She totaled 149.70 points during the 1-meter event and 184.75 points in the 3-meter event.

Junior Sara MacMurdo (Pittsburgh, Pa., Carlynton) was third in the 50 freestyle (25.78) and 100 freestyle (56.87) while junior Isabella Barnabei (Oakland, N.J., Indian Hills) finished third in the 50 butterfly (31.41). Senior Kaylee Madey (Emsworth, Pa., Avonworth) finished third in the 500 freestyle (6:19.23).

 

McClain, MacMurdo, Tanis and junior Sara Swanson (Avondale, Ariz., Odyssey Institute for Advanced and International Studies (OIAIS)) combined to finish second (3;57.53) in the 400 freestyle relay. The 200 medley "A" relay, made up of Krebs, Bodine, Loewe and MacMurdo, finished third (1:58.50).

Westminster will host the University of Mount Union Saturday at Beaver Area High School in Beaver, Pa. The non-conference dual meet, scheduled to get underway at 12 p.m., will also serve as Westminster's Senior Recognition Day.
