Westminster women score league dual meet win at Chatham

PITTSBURGH--The Westminster College women's swimming and diving program claimed a 211-69 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) dual meet victory over Chatham University at the Sigo Falk Natatorium Saturday. 

Westminster evened its overall dual meet record at 3-3 and improved to 3-0 in PAC dual meet action with Saturday's win. Seven swimmers won individual events for the Titans, with three earning a pair of individual victories. Chatham fell to 1-7 overall and 1-4 in league duals. 

The 400 medley relay, made up of junior Sara Swanson (Avondale, Ariz., Odyssey Institute for Advanced and International Studies (OIAIS)), freshmen Preslie Bodine (Poland, Ohio, Poland Seminary) and Maddy McClain (Elizabeth, Pa., Elizabeth Forward), along with senior Lauren Tanis (Reading, Pa., Fleetwood), opened the meet with a winning time of 4 minutes, 34.19 seconds. 

Junior Isabella Barnabei (Oakland, N.J., Indian Hills) won the 1000 with a time of 12 minutes, 02.13 seconds and the 200 IM (2:34.30). Junior Amber Krebs (Whitewater, Wis., Whitewater) won the 50 backstroke (31.74) and the 100 breaststroke (1:20.85). McClain won the 100 butterfly (1:05.15) and the 100 backstroke (1:08.27). 

Senior Olivia Herman (Hamburg, N.Y., Hamburg) registered a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle (2:15.03) while Bodine won the 50 breaststroke (34.49). Junior Sara MacMurdo (Pittsburgh, Pa., Carlynton) won the 50 freestyle (26.83) and junior Christina Loewe (Austin, Texas, Veritas Academy) posted a first-place finish in the 100 freestyle (1:04.21). Tanis won the 500 freestyle (5:54.59). 

Westminster's 200 freestyle "A" relay, comprised of Tanis, Loewe, Herman and Bodine, closed out the dual with a winning time of 1:53.15. 

Westminster returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 27 at Saint Vincent College. Events are scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m. at Resnik Pool.
