Titans second at Gannon

ERIE, Pa.--The Westminster College men's golf team posted a runner-up finish Sunday at Gannon University's Spring Invitational.

The four-team, 25-player event was hosted by Whispering Woods Golf Club.

Gannon won the team title with a team score of 292. Westminster registered a team score of 303.

Gannon's Ryan Ferry was medalist with a two-under 70. Senior Calen Cummins (Allison Park, Pa. | Hampton) finished runner-up with an even par 72.

Senior Jacob Stuckert (Pittsburgh, Pa. | North Hills) placed eighth after carding a 75. Freshman Ellian Ascencio (Venetia, Pa. | Peters Township) and sophomore Gavin Batdorff (Berlin Center, Ohio | South Range) tied for ninth with 78s. Senior Sam Napper (Mt Pleasant, Pa. | Mt Pleasant) was 11th with a 79.

Westminster will compete in the third and fourth rounds of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Friday-Saturday, April 21-22. This year's final championship rounds are being hosted by the Mill Creek Golf Club in Boardman, Ohio. The men will play a pair of rounds on the South Course.

The Titans pace the eight-team championship field with a two-round team score of 603 (310-293) after the two fall championship rounds and own a five-stroke lead over Allegheny College.

Westminster won its second-straight PAC title last spring.
