Westminster men tied for sixth at Pennsylvania Classic

STATE COLLEGE, Pa.--The Westminster men's golf team is tied for sixth place after the opening round of The Pennsylvania Classic. 

The two-round event, hosted by Penn State Altoona, is being played on Penn State's Blue Course. 

Allegheny leads the 22-team event with a combined score of 308. Pitt-Bradford sits in second place (311). Westminster is tied with Juniata and Mount Aloysius after Saturday's rounds of 315. 

Freshman Brody Pirt (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) is in a five-way tie for 10th after firing an opening-round, four-over 76. Junior Tyler Hager (Lehighton, Pa., Palmerton) is in an eight-way tie for 15th after his five-over 77. Freshman Aydan Gross (Mount Pleasant, Pa., Mount Pleasant) and junior Jonathan Haddox (Bethel Park, Pa., Bethel Park) are two of the seven players tied for 44th after each carded an opening-round 81. Senior Joshua Furman (Jefferson, Ohio, Jefferson) is in a four-way tie for 93rd (87). 

Westminster has two players competing as individuals. Freshman Aiden Barker (Pittsburgh, Pa., Brentwood) is in a three-way tie for 105th (90) while freshman Connor Ealy (Butler, Pa., Moniteau) sits in a three-way tie for 111th (93).

Westminster is scheduled to begin Sunday's round at The Pennsylvania Classic at 11:45 a.m.
