Titans ninth at The Pennsylvania Classic

STATE COLLEGE, Pa.--The Westminster men's golf team posted a ninth-place finish at The Pennsylvania Classic with Sunday's combined round of 312. 

The two-round event, hosted by Penn State Altoona, was played on Penn State's Blue Course. 

Washington & Jefferson claimed the team title at the 22-team event with its two-day score of 594 (314-287). Penn State Altoona was second (608, 314-294). Westminster finished with a two-day score of 627, following Saturday's 315 with a 312 Sunday. 

Allegheny's Christopher Hoffman was medalist, posting a three-under 141. He shot a one-under 71 Saturday and a two-under 70 on Sunday. 

Freshman Brody Pirt (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) jumped five spots from Saturday's round to finish in a four-way tie for fifth place with a two-day score of 149. He followed Saturday's 76 with a 73 on Sunday. Junior Tyler Hager (Lehighton, Pa., Palmerton) and freshman Aydan Gross (Mount Pleasant, Pa., Mount Pleasant) were two of the six players to tie for 44th (158). Hager shot an 81 Sunday after Saturday's 77 while Gross followed his opening-round 81 with a 77. Junior Jonathan Haddox (Bethel Park, Pa., Bethel Park) was one of five players to tie for 69th (162, 81-81). Senior Joshua Furman (Jefferson, Ohio, Jefferson) tied with two others for 88th (169, 87-82). 

Westminster had two players compete as individuals. Freshman Aiden Barker (Pittsburgh, Pa., Brentwood) was 106th (177, 90-87) while freshman Connor Ealy (Butler, Pa., Moniteau) tied for 109th (180, 93-87). 

Up next:
Westminster is scheduled to complete in the Thiel Spring Invitational on Monday, April 6. The event is being held at Avalon at Buhl Park in Hermitage.
