Titans win Grove City's M-B-A Invitational

GROVE CITY, Pa.--The Westminster College men's golf team won Grove City College's McBride-Behringer-Allen "MBA" Invitational Thursday with a 15-over 303. Senior Sam Napper (Mt Pleasant, Pa. | Mt Pleasant) won the 67-player event after firing a one-under 71.

The 11-team invitational was held at the Grove City Country Club.

California University of Pennsylvania was the runner-up (306). Clarion University finished third (310).

Napper finished three strokes ahead of Grove City's Max Vaughn.

Senior Jacob Stuckert (Pittsburgh, Pa. | North Hills) tied for third place with a three-over 75. Senior Calen Cummins (Allison Park, Pa. | Hampton) tied for seventh with a four-over 76 while sophomore Gavin Batdorff (Berlin Center, Ohio | South Range) tied for 21st (81). Sophomore Ellian Ascencio (Venetia, Pa. | Peters Township) tied for 28th (83).

Westminster's 'B' squad finished in sixth place (324). Sophomore Peter Canovali (Pittsburgh, Pa. | North Allegheny) tied for 10th with a five-over 77 while sophomore Portland Canovali (Pittsburgh, Pa. | North Allegheny) fied for 14th (79).

Westminster is scheduled to compete in the Thiel College Invitational Saturday at the Avalon Country Club at Buhl Park in Hermitage. The event is slated to get underway at 1 p.m.
