Academic All-District Women's Soccer 2023

Six members of women's soccer program named Academic All-District®

GREENWOOD, Ind.--A total of six Westminster College women's soccer players were named 2023 Academic All-District® team selections Tuesday afternoon by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The Academic All-District® teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Senior Sophia Galietta (Bethel Park, Pa., Bethel Park), juniors Allie Augustine (Cortland, Ohio, Lakeview)Brooke Horvath (Murrysville, Pa., Franklin Regional)Gabby Hunter (New Baltimore, Mich., Anchor Bay) and Mackenzie Powell (Harrison City, Pa., Penn-Trafford) and sophomore Amanda Lewis (Slippery Rock, Pa., Slippery Rock) were recognized.

Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.

Galietta, a defender, carries a 3.97 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) as a fine art and psychology double major. She has been named to the Dean's List six times and the PAC's Academic Honor Roll three times. Galietta is a member of Westminster's All-College Honors Program, has been the recipient of the Drinko Center Research Grant as well as the Clara Bruhn Memorial Scholarship. She was honored as the 2023 PAC Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-PAC on Nov. 7 and also earned a spot on this year's PAC All-Tournament Team. A three-time All-PAC selection, Galietta made starts in all 57 career matches played. She was a part of Westminster's defensive effort that registered seven shutouts this fall. Galietta added two goals and three assists offensively. Galietta earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors following Westminster's 2022 PAC title run. She was a part of 31 career shutouts (18 in PAC) and was also honored as a CSC Academic All-District® selection last year. She was honored as the PAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Scholar-Athlete of the Month in October.

Augustine, a forward, maintains a 3.96 cumulative GPA while majoring in psychology. She has been named to the College's Dean's List four times and the PAC's Academic Honor Roll twice. Augustine was recognized as a CSC Academic All-District® selection in 2022. A two-time All-PAC selection, she had four goals and an assist this season. She appeared in all 18 matches with 17 starts. Augustine has 18 goals and nine assists in 54 career matches played. 

Horvath, a forward, owns a 3.93 cumulative GPA as an accounting and business administration double major. A three-time All-PAC selection, she was named to the second team this fall. Horvath finished second on the team with 34 points on 12 goals and 10 assists in 18 starts. She scored a goal in the semifinal round of the PAC Championship Tournament against Franciscan University on Nov. 1. Horvath was also honored as a CSC Academic All-District® selection last year. 

Hunter, a defender, carries a 3.67 cumulative GPA while majoring in biochemistry. She has twice been named to the Dean's List and was a member of the PAC's Academic Honor Roll last fall. Hunter, a Second Team All-PAC selection in 2022, was recognized as a member of the PAC's Sportsmanship Team this season. She made starts in 17 matches this fall. 

Powell, a midfielder, maintains a 3.83 cumulative GPA as a finance and accounting double major. She is a four-time Dean's List designee and has been named to the PAC's Academic Honor Roll twice. Powell earned Honorable Mention All-PAC this fall after she totaled one goal and three assists in 18 starts. She was recognized as a CSC Academic All-District® selection in 2022.

Lewis, a forward, owns a 3.70 cumulative GPA as a marketing and professional studies and accounting double major. She has twice been named to the Dean's List and was a member of the PAC's Academic Honor Roll last year. Lewis appeared in 18 matches and made five starts this fall. She finished the year with 11 points on five goals and an assist. Lewis also earned a spot on this year's PAC All-Tournament Team.

Westminster posted an 8-2 PAC record and earned the No. 2 seed in this year's PAC Championship Tournament, losing to No. 6 Franciscan 2-1 in the semifinal round. The Titans finished their season 14-4.
