Westminster women fall at home to Penn State Behrend

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College women's swimming and diving team was dealt a 160-138 non-conference loss by Penn State Behrend Saturday afternoon.

Westminster had a three double winners Saturday. Junior Sara MacMurdo (Pittsburgh, Pa., Carlynton) earned victories in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.22 seconds and the 100 freestyle (57.58). Freshman Maddy McClain (Elizabeth, Pa., Elizabeth Forward) won the 200 freestyle (2:08.61) and the 500 freestyle (5:45.55). Freshman Lyndie Peters (Williamsport, Pa., Loyalsock Township) won the six-dive, 1-meter event with a score of 220.60 and the six-dive, 3-meter event with a score of 198.60.

Senior Olivia Herman (Hamburg, N.Y., Hamburg) won the 200 breaststroke (2:345.21) and finished second in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.10). Junior Christina Loewe (Austin, Texas, Veritas Academy) won the 200 backstroke (2:19.21) and was second in the 100 backstroke (1:06.18). Freshman Preslie Bodine (Poland, Ohio, Poland Seminary) won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:15.14.

Freshman Annabelle Turner (Butler, Pa., Butler) was second in the 200 butterfly (2:29.77). 

The 200 medley relay finished second (1:59.56). Relay members included Loewe, Bodine, Turner and MacMurdo. The 400 freestyle relay, made up of McClain, junior Amber Krebs (Whitewater, Wis., Whitewater), senior Lauren Tanis (Reading, Pa., Fleetwood) and MacMurdo, also finished second (4:00.77).  

Westminster will open its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) schedule on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Washington & Jefferson. The meet will get underway at 1 p.m.
