Westminster women defeated at Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio--The Westminster College women's swimming and diving team lost a non-conference dual meet at the University of Mount Union's Hammond Natatorium 189-102 Saturday afternoon.

Saturday was the final dual meet of the season for Westminster (4-4). Mount Union improved to 6-2 in dual meet action.

Graduate student Megan Routch (Imperial, Pa. | West Allegheny) earned an individual victory in the 400 IM with a time of 5 minutes, 08.96 seconds. She also finished third in both the 100 breaststroke (1:19.93) and 200 freestyle (2:05.20).

Junior Olivia Herman (Hamburg, N.Y. | Hamburg) swam to a victory in the 50 breaststroke with a winning time of 34.96.

Sophomore Sara MacMurdo (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Carlynton) was the runner-up in the 50 freestyle (26.48). She finished third in the 100 backstroke (1:08.21). Sophomore Christina Loewe (Austin, Texas | Veritas Academy) finished as the runner-up in the 50 backstroke (30.69). Sophomore Amber Krebs (Whitewater, Wis. | Whitewater) posted a runner-up finish in the 1650 (20:09.89).

Freshman Alexa Young (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Mount Lebanon) logged runner-up finishes on both the one-meter board (138.30) and three-meter board (148.35).

Senior Shannon Geer (Greensburg, Pa. | Hempfield) finished third in the 100 freestyle (1:00.95). Senior Theresa Schneider (Chardon, Ohio | Chardon) was third in the 400 IM (5:46.15).

Sophomore Sara Swanson (Avondale, Ariz. | Odyssey Institute for Advanced and International Studies), junior Lauren Tanis (Reading, Pa. | Fleetwood), Krebbs and Geer closed the meet with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay (1:51.45). The 200 medley relay, made up of Geer, Herman, Loewe and MacMurdo, opened the dual with a runner-up finish (2:01.09).

Westminster divers will participate in the Clarion University Diving Invitational Friday before hosting its annual Rich Senter Diving Invitational Saturday. The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships are scheduled for February 15-18 at Grove City College.
