GROVE CITY, Pa. – Senior
Michael Bell (Canonsburg, PA / Peters Township) led the Westminster men's golf team to a first-place finish at the Grove City McBride-Behringer-Allen (MBA) Invitational on Thursday to open the Spring portion of their schedule.
"Getting a win is always nice, but most importantly it was nice to get outside and compete due to the weather not always cooperating," said head coach
Matt Torrence.
Bell earned medalist honors, the fourth of his career, after shooting a 72 (two over par).
The Titans won out of 12 schools with a team score of 311. The win marked Westminster's fourth of the season.
Junior
Sam Napper (Mt Pleasant, PA / Mt Pleasant) tied for fourth with a 77. Rounding out the top-four scorers for the Titans were junior
Jacob Stuckert (Pittsburgh, PA / North Hills) (T12/79) and senior
Jonny Stuckert (Pittsburgh, PA / North Hills) (T18/81). Completing the team was junior
Calen Cummins (Allison Park, PA / Hampton) (T28/83).
As an individual, senior
John Popa (Salem, OH / South Range) tied for 10
th with a 78. Also placing in the top-20 as an individual was first-year
Logan Marnik (Carnegie, PA / Chartiers Valley) with an 81 (T18).
The Titans are back on the course this weekend as they compete in the two-day Garden State Classic in Madison N.J., hosted by Drew University. The first round begins Saturday, April 9.
