NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster men's lacrosse team won its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener, 15-7, over Chatham at home Saturday afternoon.
"It feels great," said head coach
Travis Brown. "One thing we talked about all week was showing up and starting fast, starting fast and having great energy in everything we do. That was the point of emphasis. We have keys to the game every week. We talked about have fun, work hard, play to win. Having great energy and starting fast is everything we talked about this week. Our guys did an excellent job following through, listening to the game plan, and really coming down and supporting each other."
The game was tied at 2 after the first quarter, however, Westminster (5-2, 1-0 PAC) shut out Chatham (2-8, 0-1 PAC), 3-0, in the second quarter to take a 5-2 lead at halftime. The Titans finished the third quarter strong, outscoring the Cougars 6-1 in the last 10 minutes to take a commanding 11-4 lead and did not look back.

Payton Waight (Ithaca, NY / Ithaca) led all scorers with four goals. Also scoring in double-digits for the Titans were junior
Ryan Greer (Cranberry Twp, PA / Seneca Valley), sophomore
Jimmy Sentz (Catonsville, MD / Loyola Blakefield), and first-year
Jonas Clark (Montgomery Village, MD / Watkins Mill). Clark's two goals marked a career-high. Greer tied Waight for a team-high four points as he also tallied two assists.
Westminster sophomore
Colin O'Malley (Pittsburgh, PA / North Allegheny) collected a game-high 10 ground balls, while winning a game-best 18 faceoffs. Seniors
Mike Roman (Fort Washington, PA / Germantown Academy) and
Bennett Webster (Penfield, NY / Penfield) led the Titans with two caused turnovers each. Sophomore goalkeeper
Bradley Green (Landisville, PA / Hempfield) earned the complete-game win, while earning seven saves.
The Titans are back on the field Thursday, April 7 at home against non-conference foe La Roche. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
