Men’s Lacrosse: Three Titan Hat Tricks Guide Westminster to 2-0 in the PAC

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster men's lacrosse team won, 17-6, at Washington and Jefferson in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Saturday.

"Being able to use our depth on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball really helped us gain and secure a lead throughout the game," said head coach Travis Brown. "It's always great to have multiple guys contributing on the offensive end. We have a lot of guys who can score at a high rate, when they all can click we are a dangerous program."

Three Titans registered a hat trick, led by junior Ryan Greer (Cranberry Twp., PA / Seneca Valley) with a season-high four goals. Scoring three goals were sophomore Payton Waight (Ithaca, NY / Ithaca) and junior Hamish Mathwin (Marion, Australia / Westminster). Waight now has a team-best 23 goals on the season. Also with multiple goals were seniors Dante Mollica (Moon Twp., PA / Moon Area) and Joe Rosa (Newton, NJ / Kittatinny Regional) with two each. A total of eight Titans had a goal.

The Titans had the advantage in ground balls, 42-37, led by sophomore Colin O'Malley (Pittsburgh, PA / North Allegheny) with six and earned a game- and career-high four caused turnovers. Sophomore goalkeeper Bradley Green (Landisville, PA / Hempfield) improved to 5-2 on the year in 55 minutes of work, while collecting three saves.

Westminster (6-2, 2-0 PAC) led 3-0 after the first quarter and had a 7-3 halftime lead. The Titans outscored Washington and Jefferson (5-4, 1-1 PAC) 10-3 in the second half.

The Titans will next travel to PAC foe Saint Vincent on Wednesday, April 13 with a 4 p.m. start time.
