MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Westminster softball team lost, 1-0, to Stevenson for its first loss of the season at the Fastpitch Dreams Classic on Wednesday.
"Losses can be beneficial if we learn from them," said head coach
Jan Reddinger. "For this game in particular, 1-0, hopefully we have learned that the tiniest mistakes can lose a game. Focus is literally what we need to focus on."
Stevenson (7-2) scored the lone run of the game in the top of the seventh inning off a sacrifice fly from a fouled ball off the bat of first-year Rebecca Henry.
Westminster (4-1) had a few opportunities with runners in scoring position - including a runner on third in the fourth inning - however, was unable to capitalize.
Titan senior pitcher
Madison Brown (Lisbon, OH / East Liverpool) (2-1) pitched a complete game, only giving up one run and striking out seven.
The second game scheduled against Rutgers-Newark was postponed due to the weather. The Titans are next scheduled to play Wilson tomorrow at 9:30 a.m.
