STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Westminster College women's swimming and diving team defeated Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent Franciscan University on Saturday afternoon to remain undefeated on the season.
The Westminster women (3-0) defeated the Barons (1-1) by a team score of 191-69. The Titans earned 11 total victories (nine solo, two relays) led by juniors
Megan Routch (Imperial, PA / West Allegheny) and
Anna Grimenstein (Bridgeville, PA / Homeschooled) who each grabbed two individual victories apiece and were members of one victorious relay on the day. Routch won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:05.23 and claimed the top spot in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:50.07. Grimenstein also won the 1000 freestyle (11:41.61) and finished first in the 50 freestyle (27.10).
Routch and Grimenstein also teamed with senior
Nyna Hess (Hilliard, OH / Hilliard Davidson) and sophomore
Baylee Horvath (Murrysville, PA / Franklin Regional) to win the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:49.65. Horvath claimed victory in the 100 freestyle with a time of 58.24.
The Titans opened the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay, as junior
Marissa Bowers (Cuyahoga Falls, OH / Cuyahoga Falls), sophomore
Shannon Geer (Greensburg, PA / Hempfield Area) and first-years
Olivia Herman (Hamburg, NY / Hamburg) and
Lauren Tanis (Reading, PA / Fleetwood Area) formed the winning quartet with a time of 2:04.26. Herman also grabbed a win in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.49), while Tanis won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:42.94. Geer earned the win in the 200 Backstroke (2:26.83) and first-year
Theresa Schneider (Chardon, OH / Chardon) was the winner of the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:09.26.
The Westminster women's swimming and diving team will be back in the pool on Friday, February 12 when it returns home for a conference matchup against Bethany College starting at 6 p.m.
