NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College women's swimming and diving team opened up its season at home against Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent Chatham University on Friday evening.
The Westminster women (1-0) defeated the Cougars (0-1) by a team score of 164-62. The Titans earned ten total victories on the day (nine individual, one relay), led by junior
Anna Grimenstein (Bridgeville, PA / Homeschooled) and senior
Zoe Cable (Brookville, PA / Brookville Area), who each picked up two individual victories to lead the Titans. Grimenstein won the 200 IM (2:24.22) and the 100 Butterfly (1:05.21), while Cable took first place in both the 1 meter dive (246.08) and the 3 meter dive (182.78).

Nyna Hess (Hilliard, OH / Hilliard Davidson), junior
Marissa Bowers (Cuyahoga Falls, OH / Cuyahoga Falls) and sophomore
Baylee Horvath (Murrysville, PA / Franklin Regional) teamed together to win with a time of 2:00.48. Horvath also placed second in the 50 freestyle (25.59), while Hess earned second in the 200 IM (2:28.36). Junior
Megan Routch (Imperial, PA / West Allegheny) earned first place in the 1000 freestyle, claiming the event with a time of 11:31.56, while Bowers won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.69. Bowers also finished second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:09.57. First-year
Cherise Schultz (Home, PA / Marion Center Area) also finished second in the 100 backstroke (1:07.25), while sophomore
Shannon Geer (Greensburg, PA / Hempfield Area) placed second in the 100 butterfly (1:07.94). Junior
Gayner Rossi (Trenton, MI / Trenton) earned second place in both the 1 meter (187.96) and the 3 meter (165.16) dive events.
The Titans also had three first-year swimmers earn individual victories in the pool.
Lauren Tanis (Reading, PA / Fleetwood Area) snagged a win in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:06.46, while
Abigail Greene (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:52.19. Tanis also finished second in the 100 freestyle (58.33).
Olivia Herman (Hamburg, NY / Hamburg) rounded out the first-year victories, claiming the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:15.26.
The Westminster women's swimming and diving team will be back in the pool on Friday, Feb. 5 when it hosts the Saint Vincent College Bearcats for a conference matchup at home starting at 6 p.m.
