Box Score LATROBE, Pa. – The Westminster College men's basketball team lost, 84-82, at Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Saint Vincent College Thursday night.
Westminster (4-10, 2-3 PAC) was down 17-12 with 10 minutes to go in the first half, before orchestrating a 26-8 run to take its largest lead of the game (38-25) with 3:59 left. The Titans maintained their lead and led 46-42 at intermission.
The beginning 10 minutes of the second half included four lead changes with the latest coming in favor of the Titans leading by as much as seven points twice, with the last one occurring at the 8:13 mark when junior
Lloyd Chatman (Columbus, OH / Reynoldsburg) made a three-pointer to put Westminster up 73-66. Saint Vincent (11-2, 4-0 PAC) responded with a 16-3 run to take an 82-76 lead with 1:46 left. The Titans answered with a 6-0 run to tie the game at 82, after a three-pointer by junior
Ricky Roth (Ellwood City, PA / Lincoln) with 57 seconds left. Saint Vincent's Tom Kromka hit the game-winning jumper with 28 seconds left. On Westminster's last possession, Chatman spun around the Bearcat defense and hoisted a halfcourt-three as time expired, but the attempt was just high.
Five Titans scored in double-digits, led by Chatman with a career-high 21 points. Chatman made a career-best 5-of-8 from three-point range. Classmate
Blake Payne (Ashtabula, OH / Jefferson Area) tied Chatham with a game-high 21. Payne recorded his second double-double of the season (fourth of his career) as he tied a game-high with 10 rebounds. Juniors
Ricky Roth (Ellwood City, PA / Lincoln) and
Dylan O'Hara (Girard, OH / Girard) each had 12 points, while sophomore
Isaac Stamatiades (Elkridge, MD / Avalon) scored 10. Roth grabbed down a career-high nine rebounds, while Stamatiades had eight.
Saint Vincent outshot Westminster 50.8% (32-63) to 47.8% (32-67). Westminster's shooting percentage was its second-best this season. The Titans dominated the glass with a 41-29 rebound advantage.
The Titans will next host Geneva College Saturday, January 5 at 3:30 p.m.
