Men’s Basketball: Carswell Scores Season-High in Titans' Loss at Waynesburg

WAYNESBURG, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team lost 81-60 to Waynesburg University in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play on the road Wednesday night.

Westminster (5-13, 2-7 PAC) had a 17-8 lead with 14:09 remaining in the first half after junior Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) found sophomore Cameron Pozsgai (Windham, OH / Windham) for a three-point field goal. Waynesburg (10-9, 6-4 PAC) eventually tied the game at 24 with 8:04 on the clock and outscored the Titans 30-6 for the remainder of the half to take a 54-30 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Titans cut the Yellow Jackets' lead to 72-60 after a layup by freshman Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) with 5:06 left. That would be the closest Westminster would get as Waynesburg closed out the game with a 9-0 run.

Carswell led the Titan offense with a season- and game-high 20 points. Also scoring in double-digits for Westminster were freshman Brandon Domenick (New Castle, PA / New Castle) and Scott with 10 points apiece. Scott led Westminster on the glass with seven rebounds. Junior Charlie Wallander (Pittsburgh, PA / Baldwin) added eight points. Domenick also had a game-high seven assists.

Waynesburg out-shot Westminster 38.3% (23-60) to 37.1% (23-62) and out-rebounded the Titans 43-39.

The Titans will look to get back in the win column on Saturday when they host Thomas More College at 3:30 p.m.
