NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team lost 79-69 to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Waynesburg University at home on Monday.
Westminster (1-12, 0-6 PAC)Â took a 27-26 lead when senior Jenna Grandy (Sharpsville, PA / Sharpsville) found sophomore Shelby Brown (New Castle, PA / Mohawk) for a three-point field goal with 4:31 remaining in the first half. Waynesburg (6-7, 3-3 PAC), however, outscored the Titans 11-0 for the remainder of the half and led 37-27 at halftime.
The Titans came out in the second half with a 10-2 run to cut Waynesburg's lead to 39-37 with 15:29 to play. The Yellow Jackets would not let Westminster get any closer and eventually took their largest lead of the game, 70-53, with 5:05 on the clock.
Titan senior Allison Borts (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) led all scorers with a career-high 22 points. Borts registered her third double-double of the season as she grabbed down a game-high 12 rebounds.
Westminster first-year Kylie Cook (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) and sophomore Rachel Durbin (Lowellville, OH / Lowellville) scored 11 and 10 points, respectively. Durbin added seven rebounds and a team-high three steals. Grandy dished-out a team-high four assists.
Waynesburg out-shot Westminster 43.1% (28-65) to 35.1% (26-74). The Titans out-rebounded the Yellow Jackets 52-43.
The Titans are back on the court Wednesday when they host Bethany College (7-6, 3-3 PAC) at 6 p.m.
