Men’s Basketball: Titans Fall at Hiram, 88-71

HIRAM, Ohio - The Westminster College men's basketball team lost, 88-71, at Hiram College on Saturday in a non-conference contest.

The Titans dropped to 2-2 overall, while the Terriers improved to 3-0.

The Terriers led the entire first half, including their largest lead of 17 points (49-32) with 2:17 remaining in the half. Hiram led 49-36 at intermission.

Westminster cut Hiram's lead to nine points on three different occasions, with the latest coming with 17:13 on the clock when junior Charlie Wallander (Pittsburgh, PA / Baldwin) found freshman Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) for a layup. Hiram, however, led in double-digits for the remainder of the game.

Hiram out-shot Westminster 55.6% (30-54) to 41.0% (25-61) and held a 39-38 rebound edge.

Three Titans scored in double figures, led by Wallander with 19 points. Sophomore Matt Getsy (Mars, PA / Mars) and classmate Tre Major (New Castle, PA / Union) scored 17 and 11 points, respectively. Freshman Jarret Vrabel (Canfield, OH / Canfield) had a game-high 11 rebounds. Wallander and Scott added six and five boards, respectively.

Westminster is back on the court Tuesday when it travels to Penn. State-Behrend. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
