Men's Basketball Wins 82-81 Overtime Thriller Over Geneva

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - A tip-in from junior Adam Carswell (Painesville, Ohio/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) after an intentional missed free throw with three seconds on the clock in the second half gave the Westminster College men's basketball team life as it would go on to win 82-81 in overtime over Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Geneva College.

The Titans snapped a nine-game skid and improved to 3 and 13 overall and 2-6 in the PAC. The Golden Tornadoes dropped to 4-12 overall and 3-5 in league competition.

The first two halves consisted of 12 ties and 14 lead changes.

Geneva had a 81-80 lead in overtime, but a second chance layup from freshman Ben Donlow (Poland, Ohio/Poland Seminary) with 1:02 on the clock proved to be the game-winner.

Junior Doug Smith (South Park, Pa./South Park) led the Titans with a career-high 29 points (9-for-15), including a career-high seven three-pointers. Junior Ron Martino (Youngstown, Ohio /Cardinal Mooney) tied a career-high with 15 points and senior Max Spinner (Boca Raton, Fla./Boca Raton) and Carswell added 14 points each. Smith also led on the glass with six rebounds.

Geneva's Keynon Jackson shined in his debut with a team-high 19 points (including the team's last 13 points in the second half).
