Men's Basketball Falls to Penn State DuBois 61-56

DUBOIS, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball fell short to Penn State DuBois tonight 61-56. The Titans dropped to 2-12 overall and the Nittany Lions improved to 9-4.

The Titans led for the first 10 minutes of the first half until the Lions took its first lead (12-11) at the 10:13 mark and stayed ahead for a 33-26 halftime lead.

Westminster came out of the locker room with a 13-6 run, topped off by a layup from sophomore Anthony Thomas (New Castle, Pa./Union), which tied the game at 39 with 13:57 on the clock.

Junior Doug Smith (South Park, Pa./South Park) led the Titans with 19 points off 7-for-14 shooting, including 5-for-9 behind the three-point arc. Junior Ron Martino (Youngstown, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney) and junior Adam Carswell (Painesville, Ohio/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) added 13 and 10 points, respectively. Thomas scored nine to go along with his game-high six assists. On the glass, Carswell led with six rebounds and Thomas added four.

Charles Dickison led Penn State with a double-double with game-highs of 26 points and 12 rebounds. Jovan Brown added 11 points to go along with seven rebounds.

Penn State outshot Westminster 46.4% (26-for-56) to 39.6%. (21-for-53). The Lions also dominated the boards with a 42-21-rebound advantage.

The Titans will play Bethany Saturday (Jan. 14) at 4 p.m.
