Women's Basketball: No. 21-Ranked Saint Vincent Defeats Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team fell to No. 21-ranked Saint Vincent, 72-47, at home Saturday in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game.

Westminster drops to 2-5 on the season and 0-2 in the PAC, while the Bearcats remain unbeaten at 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the league.

Freshman guard Hannah Shaffer (Apollo, Pa./Apollo-Ridge) led the Titans with eight points, followed by sophomore forward Katie Hughes (Boardman, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney) who came off the bench to score seven points with four rebounds.

Junior forward Emily Dolsak (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald) led the Titans with nine rebounds to go with four points.

Four Bearcats scored in double figures led by Brittany Sedlock and Maria Baroffio with 18 points apiece. Melissa Mansur and Emily Fenton also scored 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Westminster shot just 29.7 percent (19-64) from the field compared to Saint Vincent at 44.3 percent (27-61).

Saint Vincent led the entire game. The Bearcats established a comfortable lead by going on a 10-0 run take an 11-point, 23-12 lead with 8:39 left in the first half. Saint Vincent led 36-22 at halftime.

The Bearcats took their first 20-point lead of the game just two minutes into the second half. They took their largest lead of the game with 1:47 remaining with a 31-point, 72-41 advantage before the Titans scored the final six points of the game.

Westminster returns to action at Chatham Wednesday at 7 p.m.
