Women's Basketball: Dolsak, Higgins Pace Titans to Win at Waynesburg

WAYNESBURG, Pa. - Senior guard Amy Dolsak (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald) scored a season-high 22 points to lead the Westminster College women's basketball team to a 67-53 win at Waynesburg Tuesday night in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game.

The Titans improve to 4-7 overall and 3-1 in the PAC, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 4-7 and 1-3 in the league.

Dolsak, who previously posted a pair of 20-point games earlier this season, sank 6 of 12 from 3-point range and finished 8-16 from the field. She also led the Titans with seven rebounds as Westminster held a 47-36 rebound advantage.

Westminster freshman guard/forward Sam Higgins (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) bucketed a career-high 17 points, her second double-figure scoring game of her career, by shooting 6-8 from the field.

In addition, junior point guard Kaitlin McCarthy (Lowellville, Ohio/Lowellville) tied a season high with six assists for Westminster to go with two points. Sophomore guard Emily Montone (Sharpsville, Pa./Sharpsville) and freshmen forward Andi Ridge (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Starpoint) also bucketed eight points apiece.

The Titans limited all five Yellow Jacket starters to single digits as reserves Hannah Hunter and Paige Pearce led Waynesburg with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Westminster shot 41.8 percent (23-55) from the field and 41.2 percent (7-17) from 3-point range. Waynesburg shot 31.3 percent (21-67) from the floor. The Titans committed 26 turnovers to Waynesburg's 17.

After leading 30-23 at halftime, Westminster led by as many as 23 points in the second half with a 48-25 advantage with 14:26 remaining. Waynesburg whittled that lead down to 10 points with 1:08 left in the game before the Titans came away with the 14-point victory.
