Women's Basketball: Amy Dolsak Has Career Game as Titans Rout Geneva

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - In its fifth opportunity of the season, the Westminster College women's basketball team won back-to-back games for the first time as the Titans cruised to a 76-61 win at home over Geneva on Saturday afternoon.

The Titans improve to 6-8 on the season and Geneva loses its fifth straight game to fall to 5-10.

Senior guard Amy Dolsak (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald) had a career game for the Titans. She tied a career high with a season-high 25 points, while also handing out a career-high seven assists. Dolsak knocked down 4 of 6 shots from 3-point range and shot 8-15 overall from the floor. Dolsak also posted two blocks and pulled down eight rebounds.

Three other Westminster starters scored in double figures led by sophomore forward Emily Dolsak with 16 points. Freshman forward Andi Ridge (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Starpoint) scored a career-high 10 points while snaring 10 rebounds for her first career double-double. Junior point guard Kaitlin McCarthy (Lowellville, Ohio/Lowellville) bucketed 12 points to go with four assists and a game-high four steals.

Christine Carugati led the Golden Tornadoes with 15 points, followed by Valerie Hamilton with 13 points and Alyse Scarsella with 12 points and a game-high seven rebounds.

Westminster shot a season-high 45.1 percent (23-51) from the floor and they held a gaping 48-24 rebound advantage. Geneva shot 38.9 percent (21-54) from the floor.

The Titans went on a 21-4 run to take a 22-point, 38-16 lead with 5:14 remaining in the first half. After leading 45-28 at halftime, the Titans were in no danger of yielding the lead to Geneva. Westminster kept a double-figure lead for the entire second half with the exception of a 1:30 stretch when Geneva drew within seven before Dolsak drained a 3-pointer with 5:24 remaining to reestablish the 10-point margin.

Westminster travels to Penn State-Beaver Monday for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
