Women's Basketball: Albion Fends Off Titans at W&J Tip-Off Classic

WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team lost to Albion, 57-52, Friday night in the first game of the Washington & Jefferson Tip-Off Classic in Washington.

Sophomore forward Emily Dolsak (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald) led the Titans with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor to go with seven rebounds. Her older sister, senior Amy Dolsak (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald), bucketed 12 points and snared five boards. Freshman forward Katie Hughes (Boardman, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney) pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds for Westminster to go with five points.

Albion's Melissa Shaw led all scorers with 23 points while also adding a game-high five assists.

The Titans led by as many as five points (15-10) in the first half. The Britons later went on a 13-0 run that including an 8-0 run to end the first half with a 24-20 lead before leading 29-20 in the opening minutes of the second half.

Albion led by as many as 10 points on two occasions in the second half before Westminster whittled the lead down to one point with 6:32 remaining. Shaw hit a 3-pointer with 4:02 remaining that gave Albion a five-point lead and the Britons protected the lead down the stretch.

Westminster (0-2) plays Capital at Washington & Jefferson on Saturday at 2 p.m.
