Women's Basketball: TItans Hold Waynesburg to 26 Points in PAC Road Win

WAYNESBURG, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team snapped its season-high, six-game losing streak with a 49-26 win at Waynesburg Saturday night in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action. The 26 points are a season low for Westminster opponents this season.

Senior guard/forward Emilee Ackerman (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) led the Titans (12-9, 5-6 PAC) with a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds for her 13th 20-point game and her 11th double-double of the season.

Senior forward Terese Marszalek (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds for Westminster as the Titans out-rebounded the Yellow Jackets (1-20, 0-11 PAC) by a 44-30 advantage.

Freshman guard Kaitlin McCarthy (Lowellville, Ohio/Lowellville) was the Titans' second-leading scorer with nine points while snagging a game-high five steals.

Elisha Jones, Michaelena Jones and Celina Gomez led Waynesburg with six points apiece. Waynesburg shot just 27 percent (10-37) from the floor compared to the Titans at 30.4 percent (17-56).

Westminster climbed to a 10-point, 17-7 lead with 6:25 remaining in the first half before holding a 30-14 advantage at halftime. The Titans kept the Yellow Jackets from scoring for an eight-minute span between to the two halves.

Westminster travels to Chatham for a PAC game Wednesday, Feb. 13, for a 7 p.m. start.
