NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's soccer team lost its first game of the season Thursday when visiting Allegheny beat the Titans, 1-0, in non-conference action.
The Titans fall to 5-1-2 on the season, while the Gators improve to 2-4-1.
Allegheny's Katie Murphy scored the game's deciding goal on a penalty kick in the 33rd minute. The Gators out-shot the Titans 18-9, while Westminster sophomore goalkeeper Lindsey Mellott (Cortland, Ohio/Lakeview) made 14 saves.
Allegheny net-minder Kelsey Mozzoni made eight saves to register the shutout. The Westminster offense has accounted for a mere one goal in its last three games, while two-time PAC Player of the Year Mallory Bugel (Valencia, Pa./Mars) is recovering from injury.
Westminster returns to action at home Saturday against Baldwin-Wallace for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
