Men's Basketball: Westminster Loses Fifth Straight at Juniata

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team lost at Juniata, 80-63, Monday in non-conference action.

The Titans drop to 0-5 on the season, equaling their worst start since 1985-86. The Eagles improve to 3-1.

Westminster trailed by one point (37-36) at halftime and held a one-point, 50-49 lead with 14:33 remaining in the game. The Eagles then went on a 15-0 run to take a 64-50 lead with 7:37 to go in the game. The Titan could only whittle the lead down to nine points (72-63 at 2:42) before absorbing the 17-point loss.

Senior guard Craig Hannon (New Castle, Pa./Union) led the Titans with 22 points, followed by senior guard/forward Chauncey Whitlow (Youngstown, Ohio/Woodrow Wilson) with 15 and sophomore forward Ryne Murray (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) with 13 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Murray's "double-double" is the fifth of the his career and the first this season.

Brian Cannon led the Eagles with a game-high 33 points, followed by Kyle Opitz with 15.

Westminster shot just 35.9 percent (23-64) from the field, while the Eagles were 52.4 percent (33-63). Juniata also out-rebounded the Titans, 45-32.

Westminster hosts Saint Vincent Saturday, Dec. 1, for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
