Men's Soccer: Westminster Wins First PAC Match with 4-1 Triumph at Waynesburg

WAYNESBURG, Pa. - The Westminster College men's soccer team had no problem securing a conference win at Waynesburg Saturday as the Titans won 4-1 to improve to 5-3-2 on the season.

Freshman Matt Tomnay (Tarentum, Pa./Deer Lakes) scored his first career goal in the 10th minute to open the game's scoring before freshman Justin Flowers (Verona, Pa./St. Joseph) followed suit with his first career goal six minutes later to put the Titans up by two goals early.

After Waynesburg's Michael Wilson scored in the 17th minute, Westminster senior Mark Sadler (New Kensington, Pa./St. Joseph) scored his first of the season at the 26-minute mark to close out the first-half scoring.

Junior forward Andrew Saporito (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) capped off a dormant second half with an 80th-minute goal. Saporito finished the game with four points as he assisted on the Tomnay and Sadler goals.

Junior goalkeeper Anthony Beilstein (Butler, Pa./Knoch) made five saves. The Titans out-shot the Yellow Jackets, 18-8.

The Titans return to action Oct. 7 with a home PAC match against Washington & Jefferson at 1 p.m.
