Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Westminster's unbeaten streak snapped in 1-0 loss at Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, Pa.--The Westminster men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) decision to Geneva Tuesday evening at Reeves Field, which snapped the Titans' six-match unbeaten streak.

The Titans fell to 4-3-3 overall and 2-1-2 in PAC play. Geneva improved to 4-2-1 overall and 3-1-0 in league action. Wednesday was the Golden Tornadoes' third-straight shutout.

The Titans fell behind 1-0 when Geneva's Travis Miller scored in the ninth minute off an assist from Msafiri Amisi. Freshman Vasilis Kouvelas (Anthem, Ariz., Boulder Creek) kept Westminster within a goal with six first half saves, including three during a Geneva attacking stretch from the 20th through 32nd minutes. Freshman Kohen Salazar (San Angelo, Texas, Rockwall) put the Titans' lone recorded shot on goal in the 40th minute. Geneva took its 1-0 lead into halftime.

The Titans stayed within a goal through repeated Geneva pressure in the second half, with Kouvelas saving Mark Bence's shot in the 85th minute before Geneva earned two more late corners. Sophomore Alexis Bennetot (Miami, Fla., Florida Christian) and freshmen Tommy Armour (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) and Owen Householder (Clairton, Pa., Thomas Jefferson) each put shots wide as the Titans searched for an equalizer, and the team added a corner in the 81st minute.

Kouvelas recorded seven saves over 90 minutes. Salazar put his lone shot on goal.

Geneva finished with a 21-4 advantage in shots, putting eight on goal compared to Westminster's one. The Golden Tornadoes generated 10 corner kicks to the Titans' three.
