Westminster drops road decision at Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa.--The Westminster men's soccer team suffered a 4-1 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss to Grove City Wednesday afternoon at Don Lyle Field.

Westminster fell to 5-4-3 overall and 2-2-2 in conference play. Grove City ran its record to 9-1-3 overall and 6-0-0 in the PAC.

Westminster faced a high-volume Grove City attack, with Grove City totaling 31 shots and 20 shots on goal compared to seven shots and one on frame for the Titans. Freshman Vasilis Kouvelas (Anthem, Ariz., Boulder Creek) recorded a program-record 16 saves, stopping eight shots in each half.

The Titans generated two early shots through senior Orrin Milcic (Butler, Pa., Homeschooled (Knoch)) in the opening seven minutes, but Grove City answered with pressure and scored first on Luke Ladas' goal in the 13th minute. The Wolverines added goals from Cristian Garcia in the 30th minute and Evan Yoder in the 44th minute to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.

Freshman Owen Householder (Clairton, Pa., Thomas Jefferson) scored off sophomore Jackson Friday's (Bethel Park, Pa., Bethel Park) assist in the 65th minute to get the Titans on the board. The goal was Householder's third this season. The assist was Friday's second of the year. Yoder registered his second of the match in the 83rd minute.

Grove City had a 10-0 edge in corner kicks.
