Titans blank Hilbert

HAMBURG, N.Y.--The Westminster men's soccer team earned a 2-0 shutout win at Hilbert Thursday afternoon at Hawk Field.

The Titans generated the first-half pressure early, taking six shots and a corner kick in the opening nine minutes, including a saved shot on goal by sophomore Jackson Friday (Bethel Park, Pa., Bethel Park) attempt and sophomore Alexis Bennetot (Miami, Fla., Florida Christian) put one off the right post. Freshman Vasilis Kouvelas (Anthem, Ariz., Boulder Creek) kept Hilbert off the board with three first half saves. The Titans added late pressure with a freshman Tommy Armour (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) shot and a corner kick in the final minutes, and the half ended scoreless.

The Titans broke through in the second half when freshman Owen Householder (Clairton, Pa., Thomas Jefferson) scored from a senior Orrin Milcic (Butler, Pa., Homeschooled (Knoch)) assist in the 60th minute for a 1-0 lead. The Titans kept creating chances after that, including two corner kicks in a short span, before Bennetot scored off Householder's assist in the 85th minute to make it 2-0. 

Householder scored, added an assist and finished with three points, with his goal listed as the game-winner. Bennetot added a goal on four shots. Kouvelas made three saves over 90 minutes and recorded a shutout. Friday finished with five shots, including one on goal.

The Titans are 1-2-1 overall. Hilbert fell to 0-3-0 overall.
