Robinson's four-goal effort leads way in win over Franciscan

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--Freshman Brendan Robinson (Gainesville, Va., Gainesville) finished with four goals Wednesday night in Westminster's 17-9 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over Franciscan at the UPMC Sports Complex. 

Wednesday marked Robinson's second straight game, and third this season, with four goals. Senior Kyler Nigliazzo (Montgomery, Texas, Magnolia West) and sophomore Jake Spiritoso (Magnolia, N.J., Sterling) each finished with three goals and an assist. It was Nigliazzo's third career game scoring three or more goals. It was the first career hat trick for Spiritoso.  Sophomore Ethan Kurtz (Hummelstown, Pa., Lower Dauphin) had one goal and two assists. 

Sophomore Jack Steimle (Mount Sinai, N.Y., Mount Sinai) finished 13-of-20 on faceoffs and added six ground balls. Junior Dallas Myers (White Plains, Md., Maurice J. McDonough) went 9-of-10 at the X. 

Freshman Adam Teixeira (Sparta, N.J., Sparta) registered a career-high eight ground balls. Nigliazzo, senior Asher Silberling (Redondo Beach, Calif., Redondo Union) and freshman Jeromie Murray (Irwin, Pa., Norwin) had four ground balls apiece. Murray and seniors Shawn Wooles (Hampton, N.H., Winnacunnet) and Marshal Maguire (Arlington, Va., Wakefield) each caused a pair of turnovers. 

Senior Jorden Tate (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) stopped seven shots and added two ground balls. 

Westminster outshot Franciscan 53-32 and held a 31-16 advantage in shots on goal. The Titans were successful on 19-of-25 clear attempts. 

Up next:
Westminster will travel to Hiram (6-7, 2-3 PAC) on Saturday. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
